  1. [Kelowna] Pho Soc Trang

    August 31, 2011 by admin

On our drive home, we decided to stop in Kelowna for dinner. We checked out Urbanspoon and decided on this Vietnamese restaurant as it had fairly decent reviews. Here’s what we enjoyed:

    1) Rice noodles with shrimp and pork. My husband ordered this, so I didn’t actually try it. It looked good to me, but he complained it was too garlicky (I personally love garlic).

    2) Curry chicken with rice. I ordered this one, and I remembered the waitress asking me how spicy I wanted it out of 10. I think I said 7… I love my spice, but not super spicy like my husband’s family enjoys. The dish was very flavourful… and spicy. Any more spicy and I don’t think I would have enjoyed it — so I guess 7 was perfect. I also liked that there were some veggies in this dish… sometimes curry dishes have very little vegetables.

The verdict? It was a tad pricey, but pretty decent food that I’d enjoy even if it wasn’t in Kelowna. The server was very friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant was roomy and comfortable.

WHAT TO GET: The curry chicken. Just make sure you can handle your peppers! (Or admit it if you can’t.)
